Having trouble finding recipes that everyone can eat for the holidays? Check out 27 Thanksgiving turkey and stuffing recipes for all dietary restrictions. Perfect for Christmas too!
There is nothing like the holidays to bring all the family together and share beautiful moments over delicious food. But with all the food allergies and special diets family and friends may have, it is harder and harder to plan a Thanksgiving meal that everyone can enjoy. I have you covered with lots of Thanksgiving Turkey and Stuffing recipes with options for all the dietary restrictions you may have to work around.
And with the holidays not far behind, these recipes will come in handy when you start planning your Christmas menu too.
American Thanksgiving VS Canadian Thanksgiving
I am in Canada and we celebrate Thanksgiving in early October. It is also not as much of a big deal here compared to the American Thanksgiving. With my immediate family, it is traditionally the weekend that we closed the cottage for the winter.
Because I am not American and my family makes a small affaire of it, you will find very few recipes on my blog for Thanksgiving. I do have one fun exception thought that I made years ago, check out this pretty neat Retro Aspic Green Bean Casserole.
The date is not the only element that separates the 2 countries celebration. Let’s explore them.
When do Canadians and Americans celebrate Thanksgiving? Canadian Thanksgiving is on the 2nd Monday of October, while American Thanksgiving is on the 4th Thursday of November.
So why do Canadians and Americans celebrate on different dates? Latitude and weather is the answer. Canada is considerably more north so the harvest season takes place a good many weeks before the Americans. Depending on where you are in America, the harvest can last a lot longer, particularly in the Southern States.
A few more differences
Canada only celebrates the bounty of the harvest, we do not have the association of the pilgrims, or sometimes religion, like in the US.
Americans will travel far and wide to spend Thanksgiving with family. This is not usually the case in Canada where Christmas takes priority.
Also, Canada does not have a Black Friday shopping frenzy. The internet is changing that, but in Canada, our big sale is on December 26th and is known as Boxing Day.

Thank you Caroline, Happy Holidays!
I just printed off a Cuban style turkey recipe. Will check out your link, too. Probably would have a family revolt if I made it on Thanksgiving, but it would be wonderful for Christmas, too! Great roundup!
LOL a revolt is not very much in the Thanksgiving spirit! I have to say I was drawn to the Cuban too. Let me know what you think if you try it!
Yum! You’ve got some delicious recipes showcased here. I love stuffing so the sausage/cranberry one and the wild rice with apricots definitely caught my eye!
Thank you Melody, I hope you give that one a try, it really does sound delicious 😀
I like how you shared Thanksgiving recipes for all kinds of diets. For me, I’m not a fan of turkey, so Thanksgiving is all about the sides. That’s why I was eyeing those stuffing recipes, and a lot of them sound really tasty. In particular, I’d like to try the cranberry apple walnut stuffing. Yum!
We don’t make a turkey either at Thanksgiving or Christmas. But I do hope I get an invite to one place a holiday season that will have some. Bt once is enough, like you, I love the sides. Hope you give a stuffing recipe a try.
Love Thanksgiving! My favorite holiday — it’s all about food and fellowship. No cards, no gifts, just a good time. Some terrific recipes here — thanks.
Thank you glad you like the selection. Might be another Thanksgiving roundup before the actual date. I hope one day to experience this holiday IN the US.
Family meals always seem to bring together all the dietary restrictions at once! A great round up. I haven’t roasted turkey that often but have enjoyed the fact that it has fed so many!
Oh for sure, so hard to plan a meal nowadays. it’s about being together but we want to know everyone can eat.
YOU JUST GAVE ME a THANKSGIVING BONER! It’s my FAVORITEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE HOLIDAY EVER!!!!!!! EVER I TELL YOU! This year I am spending it with my entire family. Last year we did a friend’s giving and honestly, I fucking loved it. I hope this year’s thanksgiving is as good as last years!
Ha ha was your BONER FROM THE WISHBONE? Sounds like you are going to have a blast! one day I need to experience American Thanksgiving. What is your favorite dish on Thanksgiving?
Love all the recipes and that you’ve included some Keto meals too! I will have to try some this Thanksgiving as I’m always looking for some new favorites. Thanks!
Thanks Lara I tried to cross all options, and find some fun ones to try 🙂
What a fantastic collection of recipes! Honoured to have my Instant Pot turkey breast included, thank you.
Thank you so much and glad to have you part of the round-up 🙂
What an awesome list! I definitely need to try that keto friendly roasted turkey with bacon. Thanks for taking time to do the roundup, Evelyne.
OMG, I so want to do that one. A basketweave of bacon on top of the turkey? Yes, please! My pleasure Angie.
I can’t believe the holidays are fast approaching. Thanks for the Canadian vs. American Thanksgiving tutorial. I really wish we didn’t have the Black Friday frenzy as part of our culture. 🙁
I know right, time goes by so fast. We do have Boxing Day, maybe not quite as huge but close. I was always jealous of Black Friday cause you can buy stuff for Christmas lol. But with the internet, we can get the deals to now. it does put a lot of commercialism on the holiday.
