Can you feel it? Has it really settled in to your mind yet? You put on a much thinner jacket in the morning on the days you might need one. You take an afternoon lunch in the park while at work. You make sure your toes and prime and pedicured most of the time since you mostly wear sandals.
Yes, it smells like summer! And that can only mean one thing……get down with the ice cream machine! Well I fib, I use it year round but it churns much less in the winter months. Today I am primed and pumped for the first real ice cream recipe of the season. And because I biked 40 min already today and I am going to sweat in a spa tonight with a friend I feel a tiny bit less guilty about it.
Without further delay I present you with my first flavor of the summer season:
Banana Matcha Chocolate Praline Ice Cream
1 cup heavy cream
2 cups milk
1 very ripe banana
1/2 cup sugar (I used cane sugar)
1 1/2 tbsp Matcha powder
1/8 tsp vanilla extract
A big handful of chocolate pralines or what ever you have around, cut into pieces
– In a food processor or blender, puree the banana with the cream. Add in the sugar, matcha and vanilla and process till all is blended well. Blend in the milk.
– Pour into your ice cream canister and start the machine. Add in your chocolate praline.
– Follow ice cream machine instructions.
On a total side note: the text above was written yesterday. I have had a nagging little cough for a good month but thought nothing of it. In the last couple of weeks I thought I was getting worse allergies then normal and even had asthma problems even though I do not have asthma. I happen to have a doctor’s appointment so I figured I would have it checked out. Well turns out I have asthmatic bronchitis. I would have never guessed that cough was a bronchitis, it was a minor cough. Don’t feel bad…I got a pump today (actually 2 types of pumps and antibiotics) and it makes all the difference in the world.
My point for bringing this up is don’t let ongoing symptoms go unchecked, go see a doctor.
A perfect first flavor of the season! I’ll take a quart pleazzzeee….
OH MY …. that is super delicious! Pralines?! Hell yes!!
This looks wonderful. I have not made any ice cream this year yet. I may have to try yours.
This looks like it would hit the spot…especially as I would out mowing the lawn. 😉 Wonderful flavor.
My daughter loves green tea icecream – she would love this combo! And yes, its finally starting to smell like summer!
I love, love love you for adding matcha…and using REAL heavy cream! Yes!! That’s how ice-cream should be, not with fat-free stuff! Gimme the real deal! And with matcha!
Almost summer over here, and this is the kind of recipes I’m looking for. I have to put my ice cream machine in the freezer, it’s an old one, and it won’t do its job properly unless I put it in the freezer for 8 hours or more, 🙂
Have a lovely sunny day1
Cheers
What a great idea for any left over chocolates… not that I know what left over chocolates are too often around here. I can control myself but friends and family eat them up.
This looks so good. Pralines are one of my favorites, and inside the ice cream? Makes me want to go out there any buy an ice cream machine.
Yes.. I can alomost feel it. It’s feeling like summer more and more eveeyday. It’s great that made ice cream, just what I had in mind for the coming summer.
Quick and easy ice cream! You have to love one that doesn’t require any cooking on the stove first.
What a wonderful combination of ingredients in this ice cream! Love the matcha here, so delicious!
I’ll have to dig out the ice cream machine soon. This looks spectacular!
The ice cream looks so good. Today was a perfect day for it.
Yay for summer and ice cream! I’ve got to put my bowl in the freezer! Thanks for the great recipe and the inspiration to start churning again!
