This popular recipe for apple roses - made with red apples, jam, cinnamon, and a sheet of puff pastry - is taken to the next level with a splash of rose water. It's the perfect treat for you and the apple of your eye for this Saint-Valentine.
Slice the apples with the skin on in half, remove the core, and slice apples into thin slices.
Add the lemon juice to a bowl filled with cold water. Add apple slices and add water making sure to cover all of the slices. Microwave it for 3 minutes (it helps soften the apple).
In a small dish, mix the apricot jam, water, and rose water. Microwave it for 1 minute.
Drain the apples in a colander.
Flour the counter and the dough, roll out the sheet a bit with a rolling pin. Cut 6 strips on the long edge.
Brush each strip with the apricot jam mixture. Place about 7 apple slices halfway up the dough.
Sprinkle with cinnamon, then fold the strip over in half.
Gently roll the dough to create a beautiful apple rose. Brush the roses with the remaining jam.
Bake the roses for 45 minutes in a greased muffin pan, or until the dough is fully baked. Cool slightly.
