I am a seafood junkie. I love seafood, especially crab. not a treat I get to splurge on very often, but boy do I love feasting on alaskan king crab. And its been a while so I think I am due lol. Now its not something I will run to a restaurant to get. No, I prefer getting it myself and cooking it in my home. but i think most people are intimidated by this because they do not know how to buy them or how to cook them.

Well here is a little help. There are three species of king crab in Alaska- red king crab, blue king crab, and brown king crab. They are found in different areas of Alaskan waters. The red alaskan king crabs are the most prized species of crab in the world. The blue kind is know for very large claws. The brown king crab is the smallest in size. Alaskan king crab fishing is carried out during the winter months in the waters. If you want crab during the summer months fear not as many caught are frozen fresh and can be then enjoyed year round. Here is a quick recipe:

Baked King Crab Legs

3 cups (1 1/2 lbs) Alaskan king crab Meat
3 cups fresh Bread Crumbs
1 cup Ketchup
3 Tbsp Lime Juice
1 Tbsp finely chopped Parsley
1 Tbsp fresh Tarragon
1/2 tsp Salt
1/2 tsp Pepper

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Combine all ingredients thoroughly in a large mixing bowl. Roll into walnut size balls. Arrange these on a greased cookie sheet. Bake for 15 minutes. Serve crab balls hot or cold. Makes about 15 or so.
