Food ‘n Flix: I Am Love Roundup

A feast for your eyes awaits with the I Am Love Roundup for Food ‘n Flix. See what everyone prepared after watching this food film.

At the beginning of this month, I announced that I would be hosting Food ‘n Flix with the movie I Am Love. This is such a fun and interractive group. A side of it I really like is seeing the differences of opinion after we all watch a movie. Opinions are never unanimous and some movies push our limits of what we would normally watch. I was not planning on this scenario since I only saw the movie after picking it, but this was one of those challenging movies. Thankfully the I Am Love Roundup will be enjoyed by all.

Butter the movie: Food ‘n Flix Roundup

At the beginning of this month, I announced that I would be hosting Food ‘n Flix with Butter the movie. I have a wonderful time with all my groups but this one is particularly special to me. I adore all the participants and I really like the fact that there is an element outside of the kitchen…it’s a lot more interactive.

roundup 2

Butter is a 2011 comedy film starring Yara Shahidi, Jennifer Garner, Ty Burrell, Olivia Wilde, Alicia Silverstone, and Hugh Jackman. The movie tells the tale of an adopted girl who discovers her talent for butter carving and finds herself pitted against an ambitious local woman in their town’s annual contest in Iowa. No, butter is not as innocent as you would think, there is a lot of dirty plays and sabotaging plots. This is the cut-throat story of greed, blackmail, sex, and butter!

Bridget Jones’s Diary: Food ‘n Flix Roundup

At the beginning of this month, I announced that I would be hosting Food ‘n Flix with my chosen movie Bridget Jones’s Diary. I love all the groups I am part of but I have to say there is a level of exchange with this group I just don’t get with others. Not only do we cook from a same inspiration, we also discuss the movies. It creates a real virtual conversation.

Bridget Jones’s Diary for Food ‘n Flix

Wishing you a wonderful New Year! May 2015 bring you health, prosperity, amazing food and happiness! I feel so privileged to start of a new year of Food ‘n Flix as the host for this January. This month I’m challenging you to watch Bridget Jones’s Diary, and then head into the kitchen to make a dish inspired by the film.

At the start of the New Year, 32-year-old Bridget decides it’s time to take control of her life — and start keeping a diary. Now, the most provocative, erotic and hysterical book on her bedside table is the one she’s writing. With a taste for adventure, and an opinion on every subject – from exercise to men to food to sex and everything in between – she’s turning the page on a whole new life.

Pan Fried Smashed Potatoes

It’s Food ‘n Flix time again! In this monthly group a host picks a movie of their choice that pertains to food. Everyone watches the movie and then makes a recipe which the film inspired. It can be any recipe you want. This month’s pick is hosted by Heather from girlichef and the theme was most holiday season oriented – and a favorite of mine: A Christmas Story.

Happy Holidays to all from Cheap Ethnic Eatz

Food inspirations were quite limited, probably as home menus were back in the 1940s. But it is the 2nd month in a row I wanted to make something along the lines of mashed potatoes. Last month I finally opted for an ice cream so I went the potato route this time with Pan Fried Smashed Potatoes.

Maple Hickory Ice Cream with Buttered Pecans

It’s Food ‘n Flix time again! In this monthly group a host picks a movie of their choice that pertains to food. Everyone watches the movie and then makes a recipe which the film inspired. It can be any recipe you want. This month’s pick is hosted by Deb from Kahakai Kitchen and she picked an in theme Thanksgiving movie, Pieces of April.

I can cutting it short to the last minute on this one, it will be a short post, but I was inspired by an item on the foodie neighbor’s menu … with my twist of course … Maple Hickory Ice Cream with Buttered Pecans.
