Smoothies can be calorie traps. But my Chocolate Matcha Smoothie is not only heatlhy, it is also dairy-free, gluten-free and vegan. Enjoy this delicious smoothie guilt-free!

My life changed a little bit the day I got a smoothie blender. That first summer I had so many smoothies, you would not believe it! Sweet Matcha mini donuts with chocolate

These Sweet Matcha mini donuts with chocolate glaze pack a lot of lovely matcha tea flavor in a small guilt free format.

Matcha is green tea from the Camellia sinensis, with the entire leaf transformed into a very fine powder. Unlike other teas derived from Camellia sinensis, matcha has not been fermented. This is not its only particularity, as true matcha is derived from tea leaves grown in the shade so that the leaves achieve a dark green color, which gives matcha its magnificent amino acids.

Peachy Matcha Smoothie

So are you a Matcha convert or have you yet to discover this wonderful tea? If you have not tried it yet then run out and get some. I have a great one to show you today that you may want to try out. I am not new to green tea powder by far. I have several recipes on the blog with Matcha, from sweet to savory.  Sure I like the health benefits but, you know me, I love trying the unusual and less common ingredients.

But for today I will start you off with something more basic if you are new to Matcha Powder. It has been way to hot to turn on the oven lately and smoothies are still king in my kitchen. Using up some fruit in the fridge I made a Peachy Matcha Smoothie with the new green tea.

Asian Persuasion Cocktail with Ungava Gin

April 01st every year is the kick-off of cocktail season for me. You see between April 01st and Father’s day my parents and I all have our birthdays, maybe Easter, then there is Mother’s and Father’s Day. So for the exception of my birthday, I am expected to contribute an exotic cocktail. I discovered a bunch of great ones when I was recently on vacation in New Orleans (post coming soon, promise!). But the one I made for Easter was a completely new discovery, starting with the alcohol.

I bet you do not know a whole lot about the Canadian Arctic. I am from Canada and I do not know a lot about that part of my country. But I did recently make one fabulous discovery: Ungava Gin. I was just as shocked as you are right now, there is a fabulous gin being made from hand-picked ingredients found in the far north reaches of Quebec. And with it I made for Easter the Asian Persuasion Cocktail.
