Blackberry Galette with Red Wine Sauce for a Red Wedding

Celebrate summer berries with a sumptuous rustic Blackberry Galette. And you must add the ultimate final touch: a sweet Red Wine Sauce!

Actually I highly recommend making this sweet red wine sauce by the gallon. It is absolute to die for and you MUST add it to every single dessert you eat. So I have a big announcement, you will find it just below. It will be a very exciting week on CulturEazt! Did you get the hint in the post title? And I am kicking it off with this beautiful rustic blackberry galette, one of my favorite summer berries. Keep on reading to find out what all the hoopla is all about…

Blackberries Three Ways: a main course

Pick one fruit or vegetable and prepare it three ways. These were the directives we were given for this month’s Creative Cooking Crew challenge. Since it is summer there is no shortage of options. The tough part is actually picking that one ingredient.

My original idea was blueberries but I could not find nice ones in my neighborhood (I am embarrased to say) but I saw some lovely blackberries. I have always found them to be so mysterious and I would say they picked me! For an extra challenge my three recipes componse the main course. No desserts here. My menu consists of a pizza, a salad and of course a refreshing cocktail.

Repairs: Day 1 and a Tease

A little update for my regular readers. As you know 10 days ago my apartment was flooded by a broken pool pipe which is 2 floors above me.

Today the repairs (done by the building owner) began. The parquet floor in my bedroom was removed and my carpets were cleaned professionally.  I had to remove everything from my bedroom (except the bed). So now I am sleeping on my mattress on the floor of the living room. There is furniture everywhere. Its not easy feeling so cramped but I am actually really excited…feels like a free renovation. Here is a pic of the floor today…

So life is a bit crazy right now. I also bought yesterday my plane ticket for my summer holiday…in 3 weeks I am out of here. And lots of exciting things are coming shortly here on the blog.

  • Wednesday I will have an exclusive review of a very special new store opening on the same day I will post.
  • Keep an eye out at the end of the week for an article I am writing for the Daring Kitchen.
  • A really great review of a restaurant in Toronto.
  • Reviews…great stuff: a ceramic knife, an expresso machine and nice ethnic flavored vinaigrettes.
  • And a tease picture below about a really amazing outing I had with a fellow Montreal food blogger, Foodessa.
