Tortilla de Morcilla | Spanish Omelette with Blood Sausage

This Tortilla de Morcilla, or Spanish Omelette with Blood Sausage, is a delicious revelation with each new bite. In Spain omelettes are always made with potatoes, and the secret to success is sweating them in a lot of olive oil before adding the eggs.

Yes, yes, I am again hosting Food ‘n Flix for June. I went the subtitled route once more by picking the Spanish masterpiece Volver. With pen and paper in hand, I soon realized there was a lot more food in this movie than I remembered.  Picking a recipe was hard but I chose one marked on a restaurant menu: a Tortilla de Morcilla, or Spanish Omelette with Blood Sausage.

Turn a plain cheesecake into an epic symphony of sophistication with this No Bake Lilac Blueberry Cheesecake. Lilac? Oh yes! It is subtle, wonderful and makes the cake an eternal spring classic!

A decade, a freaking decade people! Double digits! I am honestly a bit at a loss for words. Suddenly my blog feels like a child. 10 years is a long time to nurture such a project. And, like a child, I have seen it grown, I have seen it crawl, take its first steps and later on some leaps. I have seen it sing, kick and scream, smile ear to ear, and shed tears. It has laughed a lot and loved. So much love. Love from me to you and enormous portions of love from you to me. Please help yourselves to a slice of my Lilac Blueberry Cheesecake and come celebrate my 10th blog anniversary with me!

Ultimate Food Photo Edit Tutorial: How I Edit my Photos

Today I am sharing with you the ultimate food photo edit tutorial where I reveal every trick in my book to help you edit your pictures better  in Photoshop.

I am going to share a whole bunch of my trade secrets with you today: how to do a better food photo edit. Now this post is focused on food photography but you can use these tricks for any picture. Of course the idea is to take a better picture in the first place that requires as little editing as possible. I am still working on that. But even the most seasoned food photographer will need to touch up a few things in post-production.

I am letting the cat out of the bag, they do the same thing as I am about to show you!

Volver: the June 2016 film for Food ‘n Flix

The film Volver is the story of three women who travel from Madrid to the windy and superstitious village from which they come from to face their tumultuous past, present and future.

OK last year I said it was a coincidence but clearly it is just a freaking sign. I am so very honored to be hosting, for a third June in a row, this month’s 2017 edition of Food ‘n Flix with the film Volver. Oh there will be passion, the will be death, there will be family drama and unexpected reunions, there will surreal magical moments, and a little food as well!

Feel free to join us,  watch the movie and then head into the kitchen to make a dish inspired by the film. Details below!

Sweet Sipping on a Cherry Apricot Bulgarian Kompot

Want a completely new kind of fruit juice? Kompot is made by simmering fruits in a lot of water & a little sugar. Sip on this cherry apricot variation with a dose of fruit at the bottom of your glass.

This Cherry Apricot Bulgarian Kompot is my first Bulgarian recipe on Cultureatz, very exciting, but kompot recipes are common in most of the Central and Eastern European countries, as well Central Asia. And no, it has nothing to do with apple compote (a.k.a applesauce). In fact kompot is something you drink! It is a sweet beverage that can be served hot or cold.

Sitting Pretty Buttercups on Sand Tarts

Pennsylvania Dutch Sand Tarts are traditional Christmas sugar cookies know for their thin and crisp texture, and a light dusting of cinnamon. Yet they remain delicious and should be enjoyed year round!

OK let me here it! I know you are confused. “But Evelyne we are in May, Christmas is 7 months away. Why are you talking about these cookies?” Well they are my inspiration for this month’s Food ‘n Flix movie, The Princess Bride. And they would be perfect for Camper’s Christmas on June 25th. 😀 Sand and sugar were stuck in my brain after I saw the movie. How many recipe do you know that come from the concept of sand? This eventually blossomed into sand tarts, all topped with a buttercup in honor of the Princess Bride herself!
