Ashe Anar | Pomegranate Soup & it all started 10 Years ago TODAY!

This thick main course pomegranate soup, Ashe Anar, will hit all your exotic taste buds with pomegranate molasses, yellow split peas, mint leaves and lamb meatballs.

I know everyone is going green today for Saint-Patrick’s Day, but my mind is on a much more important event. Today is a milestone in my life, a reason for great celebration! Ten years ago on this very day I hosted my very first dinner outing under the group Cheap Ethnic Eatz. That dinner group planted the seed for this blog a few months later. The first dinner was held at a now gone Iranian and Iraqi restaurant. In honor of that first dinner, I present to you this Ashe Anar recipe, a Iranian and Iraqi Pomegranate Soup with lamb meatballs. March 20th 2017 it also the Persian New Year. Happy Nowruz!

Do You Feel that Love is in the Air? Saint Valentine Round-up

Still looking for ideas for a romantic Saint Valentine dinner? Look no further than this red themed recipe round-up to prepare a delicious and loving meal.

The only thing I know for sure that is up in the air right now is me! When this post goes live I will be on a 13 hour return flight back from Beijing. Will I have found love in China? I am not going there to look for a true one but the Lantern Festival, February 11th this year,  is China’s equivalent to our Saint Valentine day. And the color red will be everywhere as the color of the New Year and Spring Festival. As red as this gorgeous and sensual recipe round-up!

I Am Love for Food ‘n Flix

The film “I Am Love” tells the story of the wealthy Recchi family, whose lives are undergoing sweeping changes and where food takes center stage in the art of seduction.

By pure coincidence, I am so very honored to be hosting for a second June in a row (I hosted June 2015) this month’s 2016 edition of Food ‘n Flix with the film I Am Love. I get the impression it will be a passionate and intense film where family drama gets expressed a lot at the sumptuous dinner table and behind in the kitchen with the caterer.

And this post just so happens to be 1,000th published post!  And I am less than 2 weeks away from my 9th blog anniversary! I will let you in on a little secret: of all the monthly groups I have participated in this is my favorite. Feel free to join our group, just watch the movie and then head into the kitchen to make a dish inspired by the film.

Saying Goodbye to Cheap Ethnic Eatz with the Best of 2015

So this is it! Not only is this the last post of 2015, but it will be my last post under the name Cheap Ethnic Eatz! I announced a few days ago my new name for my blog rebrand: CulturEatz.

The end of the year and the last post of 2015 are the perfect setting to say goodbye to Cheap Ethnic Eatz. I want to thank every member who’s ever joined the dinner group I ran from 2007 to 2011. They are the ones who inspired me to start a blog in the first place. Cheap Ethnic Eatz will have lived for 8 1/2 years. It has changed a lot over the years. And now it is a cocooned caterpillar that is about to emerge into a beautiful butterfly.

Lemon Cupcakes are just Beachy

Got a party in the works? How about serving up these adorable beach themed lemon cupcakes and cake! No special skills are required to prepare these sweets and your dessert just may steel the spotlight from the honored guest!

As you get older you realize that one of the most important things in life is being well surrounded by people you love. Or to keep certain people close enough to you that they are willing to plan a huge party for you. Just kidding! On May 31st 2015 the party organization team of Sue and Evelyne threw a big 50th Birthday bash for our dearest friend Michele. It was an absolute pleasure to plan Michele’s birthday as she is like family to me and I know it is a mutual feeling. So one more time: Happy 50th Birthday Michele!
