Chicken Bastilla for a North African Afternoon

Chicken Bastilla is a traditional Maghrebian pie filled with chicken, scrambled eggs and a crunchy layer of sweet cinnamon toasted almonds, all wrapped up in buttery phyllo pastry.

Boy are you in for a treat today: eyes and stomach! This chicken bastilla is THE DISH you must make for your next dinner party if you are looking for a guaranteed WOW factor! Even better, make it with your guest as it takes a couple of hours and there are many steps to keep people busy.

Don’t worry it is simple and the directions below are very clear. Open of a bottle of wine and make it with a group of friends. That is what I did with two fellow Montreal food bloggers as we prepared, and of course enjoyed, a 3-course North African meal together.

Saying Goodbye to Cheap Ethnic Eatz with the Best of 2015

So this is it! Not only is this the last post of 2015, but it will be my last post under the name Cheap Ethnic Eatz! I announced a few days ago my new name for my blog rebrand: CulturEatz.

The end of the year and the last post of 2015 are the perfect setting to say goodbye to Cheap Ethnic Eatz. I want to thank every member who’s ever joined the dinner group I ran from 2007 to 2011. They are the ones who inspired me to start a blog in the first place. Cheap Ethnic Eatz will have lived for 8 1/2 years. It has changed a lot over the years. And now it is a cocooned caterpillar that is about to emerge into a beautiful butterfly.

A Bold and Courageous Move…to a New Blog Name

Since I announced my plans to rebrand my blog a few weeks back, I feel like many of you have been on pins and needles, waiting with bathed breath for me to tell you my new blog name. Well you have all been good boys and girls this year so I am giving you all a Christmas present. I will reveal my new blog name in this post!

I am shaking with excitement as I write this post about my new blog name. It feels like this is the NO TURNING BACK point! Re-branding is a big job and you spend a lot time pondering and brainstorming. It is a super exciting and nerve racking process. I decided to do it without everything being finalized. Why you ask? Because if you wait for every item to be ready, that day will never come. So I am jumping into the process publicly and I hope we will all learn from my experience.

happy holidays
